In short
luradb.org and docs.luradb.org are static pages. They set no cookies, use no analytics or tracking, show no ads and have no forms. Fonts, images, scripts and the handbook search all come from the sites themselves; nothing is loaded from other servers. The only personal data involved is what any web server sees when you open a page, and what you send me if you write an email.

Hosting on GitHub Pages
Both sites are served by GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. St., San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. When you open a page, your browser sends GitHub the usual request data: your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser's user agent. GitHub logs and stores the IP address of every visitor for security purposes. I receive neither these logs nor any visitor statistics.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in delivering the sites securely and reliably. GitHub may process the data in the United States; GitHub takes part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). Details are in theGitHub General Privacy Statement.
Settings kept in your browser
The handbook remembers a few display choices in your browser: the light or dark theme and the selected tab or code-sample language in local storage, and the state of the sidebar in session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab. These values never leave your browser. They are stored only because they are strictly necessary for the function you use (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG), so no consent is asked for. You can delete them at any time in your browser settings. The home page stores nothing.
If you write to heiko@luradb.org, I process your email address and your message to answer you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in replying to your request. The mailbox is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. I delete your message once it is no longer needed, unless the law requires me to keep it.
Links to other sites
Links to the source code, the releases and other pages lead to other providers, mostly GitHub. Once you follow such a link, the privacy statement of that provider applies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), and you may object to processing based on a legitimate interest (Art. 21). Write to heiko@luradb.org to use them. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77), in particular in the EU member state where you live.
Changes
I update this statement when the sites or the law change. The current version is always on this page.
